Today I shot 50 sporting clays at my local club, Claythorne Lodge. I used my CZ Ringneck 16ga SxS to warm up for a quail hunt and maybe some ducks at a state wildlife area nearby that requires no-tox shot for all hunting.
The quail hunt turned out to be a total washout, literally. The grassy fields near some ponds turned out to be thicker grass and weeds and half way thru I found several inches of standing water to wade thru. i was not wearing the right boots for wading so I kept moving before the water could get in my boots and stopped to catch my breath when I found solid enough ground. I continued ahead and found that things didn't get any better so I had to work my way to dry ground and head back out to the van. Checking other fields in the area I found the same but no ducks were in the area at the time to save the day.
After many years of hunting CRP fields in northern and western Kansas I was used to hunting dry ground and learned that was not the case here.

I managed to get to the Spokane Gun Club between rain showers yesterday and get in two rounds of skeet with my 1941 vintage 16-gauge Model 21 Skeet Gun.

The National Postal Matches end today. Be sure to post or drop me a note so I can get certificates issued. Also, CZ-USA joined us as a sponsor. There will be a random draw for CZ-USA logo'd gear.

Thanks to all who participated.

OK, I'll play. 100 sporting clays today. The first 50 with a new Browning White Lightning 16ga o/u. Second 50 with a 1955 Merkel d/t solid rib 16ga o/u. Both fired at The Farm, Sweetwater, TN.

Thanks to all who participated. While there were over 1300 views on this topic, there were only 15 who actually submitted data as requested. It appears many took the opportunity to shoot their favorite 16's with their shooting pals, but chose not to actually enter.

Many thanks to CZ-USA for donating some shooting gear for a random draw. Certificates should be sent out via e-mail, and packages for the random drawing winners.

Thanks again to all for your participation with the project.

Happy Holidays

I neglected to note that Skeet was the most popular game with the 16's, followed by Sporting Clays, then Trap.

Nearly 50% of the participants shot side by sides, followed by 24% with automatics, with the remainder using pumps or Over/unders. No scores were submitted-or requested.

Thanks again,
