| < 16ga. Ammunition & Reloading ~ BE-86 in place of Unique powder for brass shells |

| Has anyone experimented with or found any data for BE-86 in 16 ga shot shells? I have been loading it for 2 years in 45 Colt as a replacement for Unique. Same kind of burn curves (according to various writers) and it is definitely cleaner burning. Nothing from the manufacturer that I can find in their loading info. |

| I have no data, only a suggestion. I reload brass 16 gauge with smokeless powders. If BP-86 is similar to unique powder, then pick a load using unique and substitute BP-86. Probably start with lower weights and test with your chronograph until you get the velocity you want. Pressures are lower in the 14 gauge internal space of the magtech hulls. You can then send off for pressure testing. |
