Look at the reloading spreadsheets under the generic loads, using fiberwads, I’d feel safe on pressure in a fluid steel barrel. I don’t have any Damascus barrels, so I’d recommend having them pressure tested to be ultra safe in a twist or Damascus barrel.. |

Straight wall hulls are quite interchangeable in 16ga, so fiocchi, federal, winny, and cheditte will all work. |

Has anyone ever tried making their fiber wads from construction fiber board? |

If you go back to the pre plastic wad load data, hull and primer are often not specified. Card wad loads were bad enough at holding pressure that that sort of detail was not critical. I tend to stick with what I regard as classic 16 Ga upland field loads. 1 Oz of lead shot at 1165 fps (2 1/2 dram equiv.) and 1 1/8 Oz of lead shot at 1185 fps (2 3/4 dram equiv.).
Speer #5 gives 1 Oz lead shot, 18 grains Red Dot, 65 pounds of wad pressure for 2 1/2 dram equiv.
Speer #7 gives:
1 Oz lead shot, 18 grains Green Dot, 50 pounds wad pressure for 2 1/2 dram equiv.
1 Oz lead shot, 17 grains Red Dot, 50 pounds wad pressure for 2 1/2 dram equiv. Note change from Speer #5
1 Oz lead shot, 19 grains Unique, 50 pounds wad pressure for 2 1/2 dram equiv.
1 1/8 Oz lead shot, 20 grains Unique, 50 pounds wad pressure for 2 3/4 dram equiv.
Alcan #11 gives:
1 Oz lead shot, 18 grains Red Dot, 50 to 60 pounds wad pressure at 1200 fps with no dram equiv. given. |

I have. Quite messy. The board I have tried, seems very friable.
I do punch sheet cork, however... |

Thanks for the advice! I've recently gotten a couple boxes of Fiocchi, while I usually run Federal ammo for cheap fun and Remington for higher quality loads. And of course, I'm not familiar with how to reload these... |
