I just use a primer in a cut down hull with no wad, powder or filler of any type. Plenty loud for dog training in my opinion.

Yup, just a primer in a cut off hull is all I use. Dogs hear a lot better than us old farts, it's plenty loud enough to do the job. I had an old mix breed female dog that was gun shy and up in her teens. Firing an air rifle anywhere on our three acres would send her into hiding.
