Good to hear that your enjoying those little long billed gypsies.

If I had to guess, I must not have brought the strap through the buckle after cinching it and through the flat "ring". Either that or she has developed opposable thumbs. Gil |

Floyd, Sadie, Pop and I did some R&D in a place we've never hunted before. It has potential. Season is out in a week in GA and at month's end in SC. Abby and Willa are in rotation for Wednesday and hope springs eternal. Gil

Sunday was the final day of duck season here. I have a great little spot where an artesian well emerges in a row of ancient retired farm trucks...next to a feed lot. The shooting is close and I have the best duck blind on earth!
I confess that lately I have dropped clear down to the 28 gauge instead of my Lefever 16. Mere 5/8 oz loads of #6 steel are more than enough to get the job done, most shots are at 20-25 yards and I pass on anything past 30. It's nice to have hunting good enough to be that picky, besides the hunt wouldn't last long enough otherwise. No "bonus" ducks this time, just mallards, and that's certainly nothing to cry about.

Ted, what's not to like about the R10? IT's a Darne good gun. Thanks, again.
WC, what a great spot of earth you have out there even under all that white stuff.
Who made your 28? Gil |

Rain, rain, rain down here in the Natural State, making it hard to hunt quail in the delta region of Arkansas. After slogging through water and mud in many of our normal places for a couple of hunts with little success, my brother and I hunted a couple of "ridges" yesterday and found 4 coveys of birds. Some went home with us!

WyoChukar,
Did you hunt the day of the bottom picture because of the extraordinary beauty of the snow/blue sky/mallards/etc., or because the ditch was the perfect place to "line their heads up."!!!!!!! Three greenheads with one shot from a 28 gauge!!!!
I hunted ducks for about 35 years here in Arkansas, and I don't quite remember ever hunting a narrow ditch quite like your hot spot!!
Thanks for the beautiful photography. Magazine quaility!!!

Sunday was not the first hunt there. Look close and see that the "ducks" in the water are decoys, good looking decoys. Yeah, that's a special spot for sure. |

Gentlemen,
This last season has been the final season for 3 of my great Grouse/Woodcock dogs. Having mistakenly purchased 4 of my gun dogs at about the same time, most as pups. Their final hunting days here on earth were not far apart.
Here is Ripper my Male Gordon with his last Woodcock, standing on my Log Cabin front port in Potter/Tioga, Shortly his female partner will be joining him and they can hunt as brace mates once again, in God's never ending Grouse woods. Its been a tough 2 seasons at Pine Creek Grouse Dog Trainers, with the loss of many of our Grouse dog kennel. The great memories however will last forever. Our new Gordon Grouse Dog pup, Pine Creek Shadow is doing a great job mending our broken hearts.

Dave, sorry to hear of your losses. Losing that many companions in such a short time would be tough on anyone. Gil |

Dave,
Sorry to hear about your losses. Having recently lost my dog, I can feel your pain.
Best,
