I've been loading 17.3 grains of Green Dot with a DR 16 and Fed 209 A with decent results for a slower 3/4 oz load for skeet. The problem is it is really dirty with unburned powder working its way into the action. Looking at powder charts, I am wondering if anyone has used a faster powder like Clays for 3/4 oz? The spreadsheets helped a little, but there was no data with DR wads and straight walled hulls. Looking for 1200-1250 fps and 9000+ psi for a modern gun. Anyone have any success with such a load? Needs to be 2 3/4" with a fairly bulky powder. Thanks for your help! |

jbusch720,
I think you missed a number of spreadsheets, as there is data for straight wall hulls and DR16 wads. Using a number of different powders.
There is a published Extra Lite load as well as a 700-X load that are probably more inline with what you want.
I use the following:
Cheddite 2 3/4” hull
Winchester 209 primer
18.0 grains American Select
DR-16 wad
3/4 oz. lead shot.
1340 FPS 9480 PSI
This load was tested by Tom Armbrust and is in the spreadsheets. It burns about as clean as it gets. |

Thanks for the info guys! That Extra Lite load in the link from rdja looks like a solid choice. Anyone else try this load out?
Cheddite hull
Win 209 primer
13.7 gr Alliant Extra Lite powder
DR 16 wad
3/4 oz lead
Averaged 1278 fps, 10420 psi. |
