The last leg of the journey was completed on a custom A5 SW16. The extra barrel I bought for a shortened A5 SW16 was sound, but neglected with scuffs and rust. Even the rib had rust, so my local gunsmith cleaned it up, removed and plugged the mid-bead, and gave it his best polish and reblue. It's all done and I like it!

Yep, 23" barrel, grouse gun in mind. Fact is it's 1" shorter than my 28" barreled Beretta OU, so it might be more than a grouser. I'll enjoy finding out. Final weight is 5 lbs. 8 oz. |

That is light.
BUL watch out. |

Yes, it's borderline too light, but these new A5's have some forgiving and endearing characteristics. They point and swing really well, and they strangely have very little recoil for as light as they are. |

Dave that is a picture of perfection! Now for the weather to get nice so can shoot again..
Not surprising agree on all points about the new Sweet in general especially with the 23" bbl
So once the weather gets a bit nicer look forward to shooting your new custom FAIR We really are a "bad" influence on each other. Nah I am going to go with thank you ahead of time instead! |

Mike, I hope to replicate this picture next season. These A5's are a lot like our dogs, in a word, versatile. We'll have to meet on the big hill once the skeet range gets cleared, or hit the heated 5-stand at Woods & Meadow. |

Very nice Dave . Wish I could find an extra barrel from mine . Browning should offer one configured just like yours . |

I have to give Cold Iron the credit for breaking ground on shortening the barrel. A big grin happens every time I pick this thing up. |

The perfect autoloader for the upland hunter. Kudos to Cold Iron and Dave. Now if Browning would follow their lead. |

There needs to be a fun filled side by side comparison with a BUL and the new Sweet.
Ignoring the gauge of course and the fact that neither are SxSs.

SW16-real wood BUL-fake wood
SW16-metal rib BUL-plastic rib
Those are two things that stand out to me.
The BUL is a nice upland auto. I prefer the A5 platform after having both. |

Notice I said “perfect autoloader”, not the perfect shotgun as no other manufacturers chamber the 16 gauge.
I have 16’s in every configuration except a pump. Love them all though I shoot some better than others and have favorites for certain types of hunting. Pick the perfect tool for the job. All good |
