for years I loaded 7625 powder in 2 1/2 inch 7/8oz or 1oz, some pie crimp
some roll. This was my drilling and euro shotgun load. Then I tried a set of
gauge mates in 20ga for 16 ga chamber. Actually works better. Patterns better.
eliminates the lenght issue . again 7/8 oz or 1 oz low brass 20 gauge shells.
seals tight, clean bore gives identical velocity. Some drillings may not accept a gauge mate due to chamber tighness, if so , too bad forget it but most will since the
gauge mate is split. Gauge mates will stick in chamber under continuous
firing but not a issue with a drilling, not a sporting clays gun. |

Interesting.
I use chamber adapters with 28ga loads for my 16 in place of making or buying 16ga lite-spreader loads. |
