A good friend sent me out several hundred Federal hulls. Can't find them locally so I've never looked for a recipe for them. Any 1 oz or 1 1/8oz. loads you can recommend?

Thanks!

Matt

Now that's a good friend!
They are a roomy hull, sp16 wads, need not apply. DR16 wads work fine, as do most euro wads.
The Yahoo Spreed Sheets have a good load selection, ignore the ones with REM wads, unless your using flake powder. Fine ball powders will migrate, if the shells do much traveling.
I'm sure folks will chime in with their favorite loads, soon.
Let's see..,,...

I can tell you NOT to load universal in the Fed with a Claybuster aa16 clone-lots of bloopers even though I got it off Hodgdons website. Switched wads to the 072sg16 and no more bloopers. With 20grs in a Fed or cheddite and a w209,1 ounce loads are about 1185 over my graph. Never have loaded any 1 1/8;just buy those.

18.4 grains unique,Winchester primer, one nitro card followed by two 1/2” fiber wads, 7/8oz #8 magnum shot topped with an os card and roll crimped. Federal hull trimmed to 65mm.

Use in my short chambered guns for pen raised quail and chukar. It’s a dirty load, but dropped a crossing quail at ~35 yards with one today. Doesn’t tear birds up, and drops them clean when I do my part. Soft on the shoulder and easy on a young dogs ears.
