WyoChukar,
I do not even want to think about 10,000 feet up right now, it's cold enough right here. Hay take some pictures of the Golden Trout and post them, haven't seen on tin a long time!
Chukar60,
Great pictures buddy, I especially liked the pup on point. Ya got to love it!

Was looking through this thread and some of the pics and stories reminded me of a couple pics and my old Britt Zach who went on to the next cover without me last July
The first 5 are pics my wife took of Zach running down a rooster your’s truly made a bad shot on. He had to jump a ditch that was bout 8’ across to get into the plowed field with the rooster.

This last one was my oldest dog Finn working in on some quail. He is a very methodical hunter and rarely misses a bird in cover. He has a exceptional nose

It is nice to have found a forum with people who love gun dogs and tolerate our obsession and love for them. |

Hitting a bird poorly is never the goal, but it is fun to watch our dogs make up for it. They sure do earn their keep and then some! |

WyoChukar,
Agree 100%, I had the same thought when viewing the pictures.

I never am sure where the spring gobbler photos go. It is 2019, but only a month after most gamebird seasons have ended from the winter and fall of 2018. So here goes:
One of four gobblers that came to the call last Saturday in a group off the roost. Gun is my single-shot Baikal MP18 20 gauge. 20-25 steps.

Second bird is one I took Wednesday with my Yildiz TK36 single-shot .410. It took a little more work than the first one. I had missed him opening day, March 23rd, with my 20 ga. A few days later, I worked him but when a bird came in range, I couldn't positively convince myself that it was the gobbler and not a jake or hen running with the gobbler. I went back to him Wednesday after biking in 3 miles from the locked gate. I had to cross cypress and tupelo ponds and swamps and got drenched. Old age, treachery and a 20 year-old Cannondale bike overcame lack of youth and skill. If he gobbled once, he gobbled 200 times. 25-30 steps. Gil

Gil,
I love the use of the bike!!
I have a good friend who bow hunts elk from a mountian bike.
He targets areas with locked Forest Service gates with long roads behind them.
His theory is that hikers are only going in so far and he can get further faster on is bike and it is quiet.
He does quite well with his strategy.
Congrats on two nice Turkey. |

Chukar60, I've been using a bike on occasion for turkey hunting for most of my career. Not only to access birds beyond what most folks are willing to hike behind a locked gate, but also for use after the low hanging fruit is picked-off on some of the public land I hunt. I use a bike to cover ground quicker than walking without sacrificing the ability to listen for gobbling while moving. This is my second bike. The first one was a Schwinn with narrower tires than this one. I wore that bike out. The lighter, alloy frame on this one makes it easier to handle and hang from a laundry room wall hook out of the way when not in use. Gil |

I ride a fat tire bike a lot. Sometimes that happens in conjunction with fishing and hunting. It's also a great way to shuttle one's self back to the truck on longer treks. I often drop the bike miles downstream when I walk for ducks, then pedal back to my truck. Same when I float a river. |

Gentlemen,
I still have my mountain Bike and use it for Fly Fishing down along the Yough River or up along Pine Creek depending on what isolated sections of both I want to fish. Have not used if for hunting in a long time.
