Got to see one yesterday at a small local shop, didn’t handle it cause they have it way up on the wall along with the price. Nice looking gun though.

A dealer I buy from has 2 on order, was able to send him a few trades in exchange for a 28”bbl SF, very excited as I’ve been after an English stock Citori 16 for quite a while. And to make the week even sweeter, my 525 16ga arrived at my door yesterday, what an awesome gun, fits me better than the Lightning 16’s do, think I’ve found my new favourite gun.

Does the 525 have a shallower drop at comb?? It’s been awhile since I’ve shouldered a Citori but seem to remember needing a touch less drop

As per Browning website, drops at comb are listed as 1 5/8” for the SF and 1 1/2” for the 525

Went to my dealer today with the intent of buying a 28" version. Big disappointment! -- very poorly balanced to the point it felt much heavier than advertised. The wood ha a dull oil finish and is the plainest grade II/III n the planet.. Was so looking forward to this gun -- Browning missed on this one

No don't tell me that, mine is arriving Mon or Tues lol. Actually i assumed it would be a bit barrel heavy, but mine will see 95% of its use on clays so i wanted the longer barrels for the swing. John did you check out the 525 16g he had in as well? I grabbed one and find it perfect, a great clay gun.

Mine ( 28" barrels) weighs 6 lb. .8 oz / just a little less than 6# 1oz.
It balances 1 1/8" ahead of the center of the hinge pin.
The wood is slab sawn with acceptable figure and an oil finish, which can be improved upon with some elbow grease no doubt.
I am pleased to have a 16 with the right weight for the gauge ( the same as my pre war 16 Sauers) , well balanced and with a straight stock- now if it only had two triggers...........and a true POW ( Woodward) buttstock.
Looking forward to the Fall !!!!!
Best Regards,
JBP

Picked mine up last week. Weight on my postal scale is 6#, 2.5 oz with 28" barrels. The balance point is as JB reports above, about 1-1/8" ahead of the hinge pin. Happy with the wood too, it has pretty good figure. Now I just need to shoot it.

For comparison I weighed a couple of other guns since I have a new postal scale.

20 Ga Superlight Feather with 28" barrels: 5#, 7.9 oz.

16 Ga Superlight with 26" barrels: 6#, 7.9 oz.

28 Ga CZ Bobwhite G2 with 28" barrels: 5#, 14 oz.

Is the new Superlite a lot like the white lightning feather? Rolling Eyes

I sold my 2 older superlight feathers to make room for this new one when I saw it coming out of shotshow. I preferred the slimmer forend, and somebody who shall not be named has turned me into a bit of a "long tang snob" recently.....

Mine has decent wood, some figure, definitely needs some linseed oil and elbow grease. 6lb 1oz on my food scale. I almost immediately upon unboxing it set the forend down in a puddle of something my children left behind on my basement table, so have some staining on one side which is pretty much the story of my guns lives.... will at least make the beating it takes in the woods less saddening Smile

Balance is as stated above, (I have the 28"), slightly barrel heavy, not unexpected with the light receiver.

I got it out of the safe finally a few times last week and ran a bunch of trap, skeet, and 5-stand with it. No issues, other than new gun tightness. Actually shot quite well (for me anyway). I shot the other 2 superlights better than average also so was glad to see it carried over.

tagging on to this older thread, I was wondering about the availability of the citori 16 superlight. I'm not sure how these shotshow specials work. Is the production before the shotshow or afterward? Or ever? Anyway, I don't see these guns new or used anywhere

Look hard and be patient. There were 2 on gunbroker not long ago. I picked one up in October. From what I remember distributors were able to order them at shot show and perhaps a few extra were made on top of that order and that's it for the 2019 run. Good luck on your search
