In the mail today, on the back cover I noticed Herter's ammo and after looking it up in the catalog, the 16 ga. ammo is listed as $10.99 a box available in #6 #71/2 and # 8 Pg. 506.

Mike,
The only thing I can come up with is the catalog order no. # 8 is 42-2710687,# 7 1/2 is 42-271089, # 6 is 42-2710691
Sorry that is all I can get off the catalog.

That price increase would be in line with the ammo now being made by Federal. They charge more for their 16 ammo than their 12 & 20. Bummer. Glad I have plenty of hulls. |

I looked at those and scrolled down below and found listed as 16ga Dove & Quail loads with #8 shot for 6.99/25 and 69.99/case.
No manufacturer sells 16ga loads as target loads since the 16ga is not recognized as an event by NSSA so we use what amounts to the same thing but labeled as a hunting load.
They do sell the 12 and 20ga loads for fifty cents less per box but that is not as bad as four dollars a box difference. |

I wonder but am thinking no since the packaging hasn't changed and the 12ga target line still says its made in Italy. |

I hope that Federal uses the usual 16ga 2 piece wad in these. being a subsonic vel they should pattern great. Cab also has the regular game load at only about a dollar more, with free shipping on the case thats also a great deal. I would be hard pressed to load a shell that cheap. |

6.49 isn't bad for 16ga ammo. about 9 years ago, when walmart stopped selling 16ga Remington loads, I stocked up for 6.49 a box.
so 9 years later and a product out there is still at 6.49, that's good. |
