I did not shoot a lot of it in 16 ga, but not much dirtier, if at all ,than my International clays loads.
I shoot a lot of 12 ga 3/4 oz loads for 5 stand. Saves a lot of lead. because of the light loads I do get a bit of carbon on the barrel extension and gas system, but it cleans up very easily. Gas valve is not bad at all after shooting 5-8 rounds of 5 stand in a session. So I have NO horror stories about it. With my gas gun I do use a lube that will not allow any residue to cake. I keep a light coat of Militec-1 on all my parts and any residue wipes off easily, I use the Militec to clean also. Except the barrel is the only place I use a solvent to get the plastic out.
Here is my 12 ga recipe (From the Alliant data)
Rem gun club hull
Win 209 primer
16 grain of Extra lite
Claybuster pink 3/4 oz wad CB0175
3/4oz of 7.5 shot.
Run it thru my Hornady 366 and the crimps almost look factory.
Enjoy,
Nate |

I made an oops. I have Winchester AALite, not ExtraLite. The AALite is purported to be filthy. I am hopin' and prayin' that my powder back order fills soon. I shot one of the few remaining boxes of Clay Dot loads I have left this last weekend. It was stored in my garage, 34 degrees out and it worked beautifully.
Regards,
Jeff |

Jeff , I would say that unless the dirty part is interfereing with your guns function , I'd use it up . God , look how long the old Red Dot was a std and it was good enough . It can be a little unnerving (matter of fact , think about the old AL* etc powders . you'd shoot some HUNTING loads , and 1/2 the powder was still in the barrel ) , but unless you shoot an 1100 , don't worry . Even then it usually still works . |

I like Longshot for 16 Gauge reloads. Lots of recipes for various hulls with out a lot of different primers / wads to stock.
