Shot sporting clays today at a club that puts on an annual event. Savage16 and Dave Erickson joined us. Of course with the 3 of us purple shells were shot. There were 5 humpbacks in the squad including a Remington model 11 16 ga. There were a number of A5's running around the course.
Great day and a great time. Dave brought his new A5 Sweet 16 with straight stock and Briley modified bbl. to 23". And I shot my 23" bbl. Sweet 16 with Mark Larson modified grip.
2 rare Sweet 16's. Options Browning does not offer but should.
Grouse season opens in 4 weeks. |

I flew back from Baltimore today and missed it.
Had a great time visiting my daughter and her husband. |

I wish I could find other 16 gauge shooters near me. I’d love to make a statement with a squad of 16 gauges. |

It was a great day. Perfect weather, great company, and great guns. Thanks Dave for letting me shoot your Iside for a round. You were shooting the Remmy 11 just like it hadn't been gone for a couple years.
Common sense would say a 5 1/2 pound semi with only a 23 in barrel would only be good for quick point and shoot style but Mike and Dave were shooting everything well with their "Sweetypies". Even I hit 5 of 6 with Mikes on one station. Incredible guns guys. Real birds best look out.! Now we just have to get Jon to drink the 16 ga koolaid! |

It was 'humpback day' and lots of purple hulls flying around! Great fun as per usual and a great mix of targets simulating everything from woodcock to waterfowl.
That first year 16 ga. Rem. 11 is really something special and I quickly remembered why I carried it for pheasants through my 40's. Thanks for taking such good care of it, Savage 16!
Yes, Jon needs a 16. |

I took my Rem M11 to the skeet club on Saturday as well. Had fun shooting it and blowing the dust off since it has been in the safe for a while. It was a big difference from shooting my SXS guns and it was a pain to have to chase down the empty hulls.
It will still be my duck hunting gun since the polychoke can handle steel shot and that third shot can come in handy on a flock of mallards. |

This was indeed cool to see these two variations together. Good chance I don't ever put my long barrel on mine again. It seems to shoot the same or better to me. Can't wait to get it after some grouse! |

That was a great day shooting with everyone, looking forward to Thursday and the trip across the River. The forecast on my phone says "Beautiful"
You will do well with it on grouse I have no doubt about that! And I have been working on Jon about a 16ga. He did mention that Wenig already has his dimensions for him and his Win 21..
John Singer missed you, that was a quick trip you made but glad you had a good visit with your daughter and SIL. Next time! |
