Hello Kmcd

Welcome on your first posting

You will need to use a wad of more cushion height.

Lower the crimp punch about two full turns on your MEC, then adjust further as needed.

Knoll I load the second load you list with the sg16 wad and its a very good fit with no fillers. Do you have a scale that you could weigh the shot drop with? sometimes the charge bars throw lite. Are you using the regular SG16 wad or the one with the little s on the end?

2 3/4" 16 ga. Cheddite Hull
Winchester 209 Primer
22.0 Grains Universal powder
SG-16 Gaulandi hull
1 oz. #8 mag shot

No fillers, no overshot cards, no food, no BS and I load these on a 9000G or a Sizemaster.

I have, I actually have velocities for 3 different powder charges. These velocities were taken when I originally tested the loads. I have not chrono'd the loads through my shotguns .

20.0 grains is 1154 FPS

21.0 grains is 1232 FPS

22.0 grains is 1308 FPS

I use the load for Sporting Clays in my 1100. The 22.0 grain load makes the best crimps, the other two will dish slightly.

Yes, I've weighed the shot and modified my Mec charge bar to drop close to 1 oz, since it was dropping light .

Yes, using the SG16 Sporting Sixteen wad (Gualandi). Discussed with Marc earlier about not having to use filler cards in the wad.

Also tried using Super Crown Crimp tool.
