I guess you need to know the book, "Where the Red Fern Grows" for the above to make sense. |

Pictures from New Years Day were my Jeffery had its 1st kill of the new decade.
Minnie enjoying herself
The Jeffery contributed the first bird of the day to the bag.
Some nice patterns, both natural and man made |

Hi win7,
I could sure use some feathers from the Huns.
They work real well on Soft Hackle flies.

What area of the bird would you like feathers from and how many? |

This group sure owns a lot of nice looking pups. Here is Birch and I at a favorite haunt late this fall. Never moved a bird and that is the first time I have ever walked that road and not moved a bird, but we sure had a nice time.
Good Hunting,
Mike

We've had a spectacular season on doodles this year primarily due to the rough weather north of us. On New Year's Day, we split up the dogs and guns. Mine went with Billy and me; Floyd took Jeff along with Pop and Sadie. We drew for two courses we usually take. Birds were everywhere including a covey of about 15 quail. Photo is of Abby backing Willa on a bird after we limited. Birds were found and pointed all the way back to the truck. Not only was it an All Brittany Day, it was all 20 ga.
From top to bottom: Billy's 1953 20 ga. Superposed, the predecessor grade to the Diana. Inherited from his father who in turn inherited it from his father. My Ithaca SKB 100 20 ga., Jeff's 20 ga. Uggie, Floyd's Ithaca SKB 100 20 ga. Gil. Gil[URL=https://www.jpgbox.com/page/58739_800x600/]

Good going, Gil! I won't make my annual "you're killing us" statement this year. I was able to hunt on a nice 38 degree Wisconsin day today. |

Dave, I read your mind when I posted the above and clearly saw: "he's killing us."
When we are sweating bullets and y'all crank it up months before us, it's the same sentiments. We snuck out today.
Jeff, MuttPak and I hit the woods early today and finished by 10 a.m. Abby and Willa on point after we finished shooting. Once again we couldn't get out of the woods without finding birds. All told we had 25 flushes including wild flushes without a dog being near the birds. Jeff's gun is a Spanish .410 imported by Jana of Denver. Probably a Loyola. My gun is the Ithaca SKB 100 20 ga. We stop chasing WC on the 20th in Ga. and 31st in SC. Wild quail and snipe run through February. Then turkeys in mid March. Gil [URL=https://www.jpgbox.com/page/58791_800x600/]
