Seems to be a dearth of flushers in this thread. Been hunting Nova Scotia Duck Tollers on upland for close to 30 years now. First grouse dog was a Ryman. Tried a rescue Lew few years ago but he ended going down the road for several reasons.
New A5 Sweet 16 Briley cut the bbl down to 23" and Mark Larson shaped the grip the way Browning should have.
Ithaca 37 Ultralight English Deluxe King Ferry 16 ga.
FAIR NEA 500 have 28" and 30" bbls for it. 28" for hunting
1949 Ithaca field grade 37. In 16 of course
Wait those aren't grouse, SD pheasants..
Tired pup at the end of the day hunting ruff
Previous Toller who has long since passed over the rainbow bridge with the only Dutch double I ever shot on grouse. Never seen the second bird until he ran to it and picked it up off the forest floor to bring it back to me.
Great memories, as I have had with all my dogs

Zeke was my first GWP and he was certainly the best grouse dog I ever had. He wasn't an ace on pheasants, but he had grouse down to an art.
This is from about 1998 near the Flambeau River in WI.

Cold Iron,
Great pictures love the Troller! Maggie Mae our new Ryman Setter Blue Belton pup arrives home today at about 4:00 PM.

Pine Creek Ryman Maggie Mae in the loving arms of my good friend Ken Graft's wife Kim. Once a lady has a Ryman puppy and its magic, in their home they will eventually acquire a Ryman Gun puppy of their own. Kim almost kept Maggie for her own. Mike at Wyssfiresidesetters just sold another Ryman Setter pup, and he does not even know it yet.
Nothing better than owning both Gordon and Ryman Setter Grouse Dogs. - Pure Magic.

I just got a red setter pup, she's 4 months old. Her name is Maggie. Very smart, and incredibly adorable. My girlfriend asked me a couple of days after we brought her home if I was going to let her sleep on the bed like the other dogs do. I said "Yes, when she's older."
She said "How much older?"
And I replied, "Saturday I think."
She comes to the office with me sometimes and sleeps on my desk. She's very popular.

nj gap,
It looks like you might have to have a new handle,( nj red setter/gsp.) Love the red setter pup, hope you are having as much fun with your Maggie as I am with mine.
I am play retrieving with Maggie Mae right now, need to get a new paint roller put some Grouse feathers in it, duck tape the ends shut and drive on with our retrieving play training.
Shadow our Gordon pup is way past this particular stage, has developed a great retrieving discipline even at 7 months old. Next feathers on the out side of her roller!
Life is Setter puppy great around here right now!

cold iron,
I have a similar couch in my log cabin with the Grouse prints on it. Great old 60's furniture and still in perfect shape even after all these years. Your dogs looks great resting on it!

Grouse dog? Lets' just call Rusty a "feather dog". He really doesn't care what kind of bird he hunts; he loves sleuthing them all out into the air for me.[[URL=https://www.jpgbox.com/page/55299_512x768/]

dap,
Jackson - Great name for a Pa Grouse dog near the Mason-Dixon line! Looks like he had the talent to get the job done! When a gun dog can handle spooky Pa Grouse he can handle any game bird.
