Thanks skeettx- just looked last week and they were 228 plus shipping. I just got one for 179.00. Going to use it for brass 16 gauge. |

Let me know how that press is when you get it. I have a Redding and a RCBS but I like the looks of that hot rod |

Win7 will do. I found the rcbs a little cheaper, but after reading the reviews on it I decide with mec. According to what I read rcbs was bought out by some outdoor place and now parts are made in China and customer service sucks. If you have an older model all the parts were made in the good ol USA, and the parts are much better made and tolerance’s are better. Don’t know if true, but I have 7 mec’s and they have never let me down. |

What dies will you be using for the 16 gauge?
Will they fit the top of the MEC?
Shell holders?
Thank you
Mike |

Skeettx-
Buffalo reloading dies. And yes you have to take the ring out of the mec and then the threads are the same. They are expensive, but suppose to be excellent. The kit comes with resizer and crimp tool. Not sure I will need to crimp but.....
They also have a shell holder for 16. The video I watched showed it just clipping in the mec. |

I reload 16 ga magtech brass with the ch4d dies, and I find the crimp die most effective with seating a 13 ga overshot card. I do not need glue to keep the card in place with the crimp die. |

goat- I'm assuming your using fiber wads instead of plastic wads. I know the magtec can be modified to except plastic wads and 209 primers, just seems like a lot of work. The rmc you can use plastic wads, and smokeless powder with. Are you using smokeless with the magtec? I know some guys are and have been doing for some time. Do you resize every time a shell is fired? The rmc ones are $7 a case. Read somewhere that with the rmc you can get 30,000 loads. seems outta the park, but new to brass shotgun shell reloading. Can you post some pics of your reloads please. |

I do use 14 gauge fiber wads. They need to be waxed otherwise the seal is poor and velocity suffers greatly. I have tried 12 gauge plastic wads in the magtechs, but they did not seal well or did not fit correctly. I do use smokeless powders - primarily trail boss, green dot and red dot. I do resize each time after firing. My different 16 gauge guns have slight differences in chamber size; and also the crimp needs to be reopened to allow easy insertion for the new wads.
