I thought my 1oz loads were dirty burning. Switched to Universal clays instead. |

Great slow burn powder for hunting loads. I use it with an ounce of #7's at 1300 FPS really like it. I have never shot a 16gauge load that wasn't dirty. My Universal clays load I shoot for skeet is just as dirty. The 4756 has been produces for a long time I think its good stuff. |

Need a minumun payload of one ounce and a firm crimp for best results---Max payload is 1 1/8 ounce. |

Use it for my 15/16oz HeviShot 16ga loads. Win primers in Fiocchi 2 3/4 hulls work better for me than the 616 primers in cold weather. May need to up load to 1oz per Hoashooter's note. Certainly better that 800-X. |

I use it for my 1 1/8 oz hunting loads and, frankly, was surprised how clean my bores were after a weekend hunt. But on the other hand, I didn't shoot a round of SC with it either. |

IMR SR 4756 is a very good powder for certain applications, heavy hunting loads being them. 4756 like PB and 7625 are single base powders which mean they have no Nitroglycerin content in them as most double based powders do.All of the single based powders perform well in cold tempertures unlike powders such as Blue Dot which loses a lot in cold temperatures.
They only problem you will encounter with 4756 which is a draw back when loading in the 16 ga is the fact it is a bulky powder ( takes up a lot of room in a hull for it's weight). Example is 20 grains of 4756 takes up the same amount of room in a hull as 32 grains of HS-7/571.
If your looking for a powder that gives very good hunting performance in the 16 ga, then try Hogdon Longshot. I have gone to Longshot for all my hunting loads in the 16 ga, been shooting and loading for the 16 for over 20 years now and so far this is the best powder I have tried for hunting loads. |

Amen to what 16GAwaterfowler says!
I first loaded SR 4756 35 years ago in 2 3/4" hulls at 1 and 1 1/8 oz recipes and it worked great. Used HS7 for 1 1/4 oz loads. All for pheasant and sharp tailed grouse. Don't use it now due to the powder bulk factor and the fact that my hunting guns take 2 9/16" shells so I now use other powders. |

I'm using 4756 with the old Remington cases with 57 primers in a 1 1/8 oz. load. Best I have used to date.
