I was out with the cameras last night and thought everyone would enjoy this. Telephoto image of the Milky Way and a shot of Comet NEOWISE.

| we are gonna miss that opp here . Down at the cabin , we are on a hilltop with no background light . The stars look like fatsos ! Couldn't get down there this wkend . Could see the comet fri nite , a little too much backclouds from Lake Ontario Sat , and storms last nite . Tonight might be the nite as it gets closer to the dipper and supposed to be clear ! .... Great photos ! |

| Great pictures. The last time I saw the night sky that clearly around here was back in 2008 when a tornado took out the power for miles around. |

| Wyochukar, what camera, lens did you use or is it attached to a telescope. And were you at higher elevations than most of us urban dwellers? Great photos. It may be the only look at this comet most of us see unless one waits for its return in approx. 6,800 years. And I'm hoping my Lefever Nitro Special will still be knocking down birds! |

| I used a Canon 6D with a 70-200mm f/4 lens set at 70mm for the Milky Way and 200mm with the comet. I also used a 400mm lens and 70D on the comet, but with long exposures, the stars were "sticks" instead of dots and I had to speed it up and use very high ISO...so the 200mm pics were the best. I used modified surveyor's tripod to keep things steady. I am at about 5,000' elevation and light pollution is not a problem out in the hills. |

| Thanks Wyochukar, here at sea level with light and air pollution the sky is too obscured to see this kind of detail. Planning a trip to central Idaho and looking forward to the possibility of seeing this comet. As they say "Keep looking up!" |

| There are trackers available at modest cost that mount camera to tripod and eliminate star tracks in longer exposures. Check out bhphotovideo.com or other such sites. |
