I ordered some 16 gauge Backridge Amunition bismuth #4's the other day and I got an email from Rob at Backridge informing me that the #4's went fast and they were down to 1 box. He went on to say he's sending me the box of #4's and refunding me the cost of the unfilled order, but he's also including a box of bismuth #6's free of charge.
Hard not to appreciate that. |

Dang nice of them!
I might have to try some of these after my supply of BOSS runs low. |

I'll be curious to hear what you think of the Backridge shells.
I just ordered a box of #4 16ga last night along with some 20ga shells. They seem like a good load for pheasants and large ducks. |

I like the velocity on these Backridge loads and I think 1275 fps is more than enough for #4's and a better option for my light 16's. Should be perfect for ducks and roosters. |

Yes, the velocity seems appropriate.
My initial impressions of the Boss loads are positive, but 1375 fps is really uncalled for. |

My Backridge #4's came today along with the complimentary #6's and yet another gift.
These guys have earned my next order. Can't wait to use these loads on ducks and pheasants. |

That is a reasonable speed for bismuth waterfowl loads. For several reasons. Probably not needed for other targets. |

Has anyone chronoed the Boss or Backridge? I seem to remember DE graphing the Kent 1oz Bismuth that the box says 1300 but he was getting like 1275? |

Man, I would love to order a box of 4's and 6's, especially if it comes with a shirt! Looks like they are completely out of 16ga ammo for the time being. Sigh. |

I received my 20 gauge loads, but the 16 gauge were refunded.
Cutting apart the Backridge loads, the shot looks comparable to Kent, with a fair bit of lumpy shot and a couple broken ones.
By comparison, the Boss shot is round and even, but perhaps they're using the copper coating to even out the Bismuth.
This is a small gripe, but does anyone else find it odd that on the Backridge shells neither the boxes or hulls are marked with the shot size? |

Dang, I just read this and didn't notice the lack of markings on the boxes and shells. Now I don't know which are the 6's and which are the 4's. I'll have to open one up.
I patterned the 16 gauge Kent 5's a few years ago and the patterns were excellent, uniform and seemed fairly tight. |

Opened up a shell and it was the box of 4's and the Sharpy was quickly employed.
While I was at it I measured about 10 pellets and got an average of about 0.127" maybe a bit less. I'd call them about 4 1/3 -4 1/2 size. The pellets looked pretty round. |
