Have a nice waterproof nylon jacket that has become a sieve in the rain. Half a can of scotchgard accomplished nothing. Is there anything short of flexseal that will make it reasonably waterproof again?
TIA

I dislike waterproof clothing from a comfort angle but a friend swears by Camp Dry, I like Sno-Seal for such purposes.....best to fit & try rather than go by suggestions, imho.
We all have different needs and also different expectations re satisfaction. |

Once they lose it you can’t bring it back. Is it a hunting jacket? |

I have always believed that waterproofing is not permanent, but timed.
Whether wearing, gortex or waxed cotton the water will in time penetrate.
Rubber or vinyl rain suits will stop water, but your sweat will fill them wet from the inside.
Being wet and driving on is just part of life.
Same goes for boots |

Look up Nikwax wash in waterproofing. I've read about it but never tried it. Amazon has it. |

Dave Erickson,
I agree he needs to purchase a Gore-Tex Grouse Jacket. Spend the money and get a good one. If Browning still made them I would recommend the one I own, completely water proof for many years now. Unfortunately I do not believe they are available any longer.

Thanks for the feedback. It is a gor-tex golf jacket that I won in a tournament and use here at the range, which it proved very well suited for. But the last time out I ended up soaked to the skin after a couple passing showers.
Yes it’s probably time for a new one. I don’t need a heavy brush jacket, just a light rainproof shooting jacket.
Thanks

I've got an old Cabella's down vest - gotta be 35 yrs old . Same type problem . Lots of camp dry ! Can't be replaced ! Nothing like it . Inside pockets on both sides , favorite carry vest . fortunately , when it does get wet , dries fairly quickly ! |

Spray on does not work well or last. You need to wash in Niixwax tech wash and then again in waterproof. Does a solid job of reviving goretex, spray the seams with the sealer. |

Years of believing the hype of Gore-tex gear was eventually washed away by the rain. The trench foot reduction design of GI jungle boots solved a lot of problems accepting the fact that boots will leak and wet boots need to be able to drain; feet need to breathe and dry out on their own and one might as well get it over with by stepping into the first puddle one sees. Wear your favorite hunting jacket-carry a parka (piece of plastic with a hole for the head) in the jacket.
When it rains, put it on. They're cheap and don't weigh any more than a bird bagged.
