I tried loading some DR-16 wads in some very old and hard Remington shells I found on Ebay. The load fit but about 20% of the wads got cocked. Part of the cushion section actually folded up and next to the shot cup. I only made less than 50 and I expected them to have some bloopers, but there were none when I shot them this weekend.
Full recipe is Remington hull, W209, 17.5 gns. Green Dot, Dr-16 wad and 3/4 oz #9. When it worked it was a nice fit. Just seemed really tight.
I ended up making 15/16 oz with a WAA16 wad and 16 gns. Green Dot. Those were fine.
How are the CB0078-16 wads for a 7/8 oz. load in a Remington hull?
I don't see a whole lot of data out there. Are these new?
That would be perfect for me.
I could use up the DR-16s in a Cheddite or Fiocchi I guess.
Thanks

The CB0078-16 is super for 7/8 oz. loads in a Remington hull.
7/8 oz.
RGL hull (2 3/4")
W209
CB-0078
15 grs. International Clays
I chronographed 4 of the loads above with 15 grains of International Clays, and 4 more with 15 grains of Green Dot. I set up 3' from the screens.
15.0 gr. Int. Clays 1172 fps
15.0 gr Green Dot 1180 fps
Pressure is safe and <9K psi. I had it tested. |

Wow, hard to find these. Midsouth had them in stock though.
Plenty of Green Dot on hand too.
Thanks.

the inside shoulders on the remmies are tight . have found that if I feel the wad is cocked , I pull the hull out and fix it by hand ( with the wad 1/2 way in ) . Have loaded a LOT of the load you are talking about !! |

I really like the DR-16 in every hull but the Remington. They aren't a terrible fit but.....they certainly can be a tight fit.
I agree with Dave Erickson and I believe the CB0078-16 is a better choice in the Remington hull, especially as the crimp area gets crispy. |
