My Dad got me started with a 22 riflr when I was about ten years old. He was an active trap shooter and started me with a shotgun at about age 12. He got me started quail hunting then and for my 13th birthday I got my first Brittany pup and have loved them ever since.
When my step daughter was about twelve she showed interest in shooting because of a boyfriend at school. I introduce her to shotguns with a 29ga but her interest died when
she lost interest in her boyfriend. Confused

.22s off the deck from the time He was 5 or so. .410 on backyard clays since he was 8. He shot his first turkey a year and half ago at 8.5. Shot his first squirrel Christmas Day this year at 9. Second turkey at 9.5. Shot his first deer in September, turns 10 in a month.

He’s gone pheasant hunting (the annual death march) for 3 years now with us. He walks a field. Then sits in the truck for 3. Then walks another then sits. Plenty of candy and coke to make him excited to go.

Be it hunting, fishing, or shooting clays in the backyard, I try to set them up for success. I’m trying to build excitement. Knowing that every trip won’t be successful, but I’m trying to set up for only successful trips so that pleasure is known for the times he isn’t successful.

Sunday after a half mile walk. Got to see the dogs point and honor

His second turkey this spring
