Hi all, first post:

What did Husqvarna make for 16-gauge side-by-sides post-1900? Did Sears ever import Husqvarna 16-gauge side-by-sides? I'm looking for a 16-gauge side-by-side and I'm curious if Husqvarna ever made such a gun. I'd ideally want a straight stock.

Thanks!

Hello C. Stockwell

Welcome to the site on your first posting

An insight of your intended shotgun would be most helpful.
Hammers, boxlock, sidelock, etc?

Here is a 12 gauge straight grip

My Model 310 12-gauge above is of WW-I vintage, and my 16-gauge is from 1947.

Model 310s were expensive guns. They started at the price of a DE-Grade Ansley H. Fox and went up from there. From the 1929 Stoeger catalog --

I have been re-reading an article in the Spring 2005 ( yes, 2005) Double Gun Journal, which clearly shows the JP Sauer / Husqvarna connection in the pre-WW2 years...
Pre WW2 JP Sauer guns are outstanding.....the Husqvarna models are perfect duplicates, in every way...

I dont know how you could go wrong.

tradeexcanada.com

Not a lot of 16s at present.

Yeah, they made a few straight grip 16's. Cool The top one in this photo, a model 103A sidelock hammer gun, is a 12 however. The middle one is a model 15 with their lefaucheaux underlever, and I just acquired the bottom one a few weeks ago, a model 36 jones underlever 16, which is one I've been looking for, for years. Made in 1880, this is the only jones underlever 16 I've ever seen, and it is surprisingly easy to use. Even better, the bores are near mint. I'll be re-working the stock and having the barrels refinished in the offseason. It's choked mod/imp. mod, and I'm going to see if I can't snag a few mallards with it on a guided duck/goose hunt this weekend using 2.5" ITX #4 roll crimped reloads. Ditto for the 12 at top.

Here are a few more Husky 16's I've owned, a model 100:

model 50:

and a model 44:

Having owned a ton of husky's, I would recommend the one that fits you the best and that you enjoy shooting the most, and has the best barrels. You really can't go wrong with any of them. Rudy's 310AS is a foolproof choice if you want a hammerless gun. Hard to find in 16 though. All husky's are well built and will do the job you ask of them.
