I'm curious as to what the difference is between these two is and how can you tell them apart? I've noticed different load data for them, so I assume they are not the same.

The SP hull has a composition base wad--it will be gray and smooth. The earlier ones were for the 57/157 primers--later ones were sized for the 209's.Brass height has no efFect on internal basewad height.Which is the main difference---DO NOT SWITCH DATA.

Can someone point me to some good data on the Rem black? I've been using the SP loads in them with no problem, but want to see some factory verification to back up my experience.

I'm not really trying to hard to promote the low pressure group, but I know they have some loads there for the black hulls. They have a spreadsheet there that is over 20 pages long with various types of loads for all hulls.

Frankly, I'm not needing bunches of loads for the 16, just one or two for he Rem black hulls. I'd kinda like to avoid losing a 20 for just a load or two.

Call me cheap, but reloading is not a hobby for me, just a means to an end.

trust me.

plenty of loads listed in the Hogdon manual using Universal and Longshot with velocities from 1165 to 1350fps. Pressures from 8500-11300psi. That should do fine for a modern 16.

jchandler,
Thanks, I'm using those very loads, but it calls for the SP hull, not the Rem Black I'm using. I'm using it anyway, because as you say, we're dealing with a modern gun here.
