Thanks Mike, I can assume these have a paper base wad? I am going to try to send a pm to the low pressure loading group & join!

The Winchester Australian Super-X does have a plastic base wad and if they are not Cheddite they are a very close copy. |

Loner, none of the new WW 16 ga. hulls have a paper based wad. All are a plastic insert. However, do not confuse them with the one piece compression formed AA hulls. These are not being made anymore. Have not been in 16 for some time now. Any WW hulls with paper base wads are very old. Best not use any old hulls of questionable origin with paper or fiber base wads. Most are well over 15 years old. You are rolling the dice here.
To the best of my knowledge, and except perhaps some of the rarely seen European ammo, only the Alliant owned Federal and Estate hulls have a rolled paper base wad insert. They are basically the same hull. All the other major imported shells and all Remington shells now have a plastic base wad insert.
New, undamaged, Federal and Estate hulls are OK to reload if you check the base wad for looseness with a 1/2 inch dowel with a radius edged flat bottom so it uniformly pushes down on the wad base. A simple witness mark on the dowel even with the mouth of an undamaged, fired hull will show a raised base wad. Chexck them all before reloading them. Throw any away that exhibit this flaw. They are dangerous. If the base is still firmly down and in place and the hull mouth and primer pocket are in good condition, the hull will load fine. however, do this check every time you reload the hull to avoid problems. |

Use the Cheddite data. Just because two hulls both have a plastic base wad does not mean that the internal dimensions will be the same and that using the same load data in both is safe. |

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that was confused by this. If you do decide to join the low pressure group go and check out the photos. Someone took a bunch of pictures of many different hulls sliced in two. They helped me more than just about anything else I tried to figure out all of the different hulls. |

I'm looking forward to joining the low pressure group. Is it worth the money? |

I believe that the Australian Win Super-X 16 hull is a Cheddite hull. have used data for Cheddites. These are actually good loads - plastic base wad and wad cup, unlike the older ones with a paper wad.
Here is the hull.
