Which would you prefer ejector or extractor? |

Ejector and can be made to extractor with a Colt 1911 spring
My wife shoots a 20 gauge Citori with 28 and 410 tube sets.
The gun is set to extractor and is much easier to open and
the hulls do not hit her in the face. |

Extractors!
I got tired of putting my hand over the hulls when I opened the breech to keep them from ejecting so I too did the 1911 spring conversion on my Citori and I'm very happy with it. |

Ejector.
Simple, reliable, faster when you need to reload in a hurry and a lot easier to deal with when you are wearing gloves.
Some folks don't like them because they haven't figured out how to catch the hulls when they get ejected.
This is not meant to offend anyone, but there are some folks that have trouble catching empty hulls out of a shotgun with ejectors.
Open the top lever and just crack the action (do not open it all the way). Slide the hand that you just opened the top lever with over the chambers. Now finish opening the action. The empty hulls pop right into your hand. |

I was fascinated at the grand one year watching a fellow shoot, open the gun, catch the hull in the air, put it in his pouch behind his back then go to his side pouch grab a shell put it in the chamber and never take his eyes off the trap. All that within a few seconds. Like poetry in motion. |

I own a few over unders and SXS guns. Never had an extractor gun, but I could live with it. Given a choice though, I’d stay with ejectors. |

I like ejectors, but I wouldn't pass up a good gun with extractors if it hit all the other buttons. I have one like that. |

We generally prefer extractors except when they stick. Broke a fingernail pulling a case out at the shoot last weekend. Stopped up the works, others had to come over and help out. Maybe I should learn how to operate ejectors.

Ejectors, strongly dislike looking for hulls in the grass/brush or watching them float away in the current. Wasn't aware of the 1911 thing, went to the hardware store and found springs similar to the OEM and kept snipping until they worked just right. |

When we 1sr started going to SoDak , EJECTORS !! No screwing around when the roosters were boiling thru and limit was 5 .... However , since then and for every other occasion , extractors ..... that mighta been the Vendels - shooting trap with their guns , catching the empties on the fly , pouching them and reloading !! Chris is the only one left of that gang - still going strong in PA , NY and the Grand . Good one to watch ! |
