I lost the data for DR-16 wads. I’ve been loading Federal hulls and need the correct amount of powder.
I am dead in the water without this. |

Hogdon does not list any loads with Fed hull, DR16, and International. They do list a 21/2" cheddite load using 16.6 gr International and DR16 wad around 1200 fps and 6600psi. I use that load a lot on clays.
Since both are straight walled hulls, I might try 17 gr International with 7/8 oz in the Fed hull. Crimp might be dished, might need a filler or overshot card.

| Checked the old spreadsheets also, no 7/8 loads with Internatiol and DR16, but there are with Universal |

From the 2019 Precision Reloading data sheet:
FED\Fed 209A INTERNATIONAL 17.0 DRA16 40 7/8 - 1252 fps 8170 psi
FED\Win 209 INTERNATIONAL 17.0 DRA16 40 7/8 - 1236 fps 7763 psi
That Dave fellow on the other side of the River here confirmed the data with his chrono back in 2009 well before Precision released the data.

Here are the results of my preliminary velocity tests involving the DR16 wad in the Federal hull. My goal was to find a 7/8 oz load right around 1200 fps
International Clays
16.0 gr. = 1120 fps
16.5 gr. = 1222 fps*
17.0 gr. = 1245 fps
17.5 gr. = 1303 fps
18.0 gr. = 1502 fps |
