We've all been kinda searching around for powders etc , and I know I've strayed away from my norms some . WSF has been lurking out there and has been avail for a while now . I don't particularly like Ball powders , but I got some of this to try in my 28ga and like it quite a bit .... Now , in cruising Lyman's 5th , there are loads for 1oz in all cases with SP wads . Not impressed there , but , somewhere in my cruising , stumbled onto this one : 16ga Activ , Win primer , 7/8 ,G-28 21 WSF ,8100/ 1200 ... I haven't tried this yet , but I think this load may unlock the real value of this powder with the G28 , Gualandi wads for both 7/8 and 1oz for us . Most of the places I watch for powder have had this for a while now . |

WSF works and I used a pile of it when Winchester CF cases were common with 1 oz. of shot and the WAA16 wad. It also worked well in the Remington RGL hull with the WAA16 wad. |

My usual perusal of Mid South , Grafs , and Powder valley - they all have 1 & 8#ers and MS has 4#ers also . Quite avail at the moment . |

I also scored 8lbs of it and used it to replace universal in rem black hulls with claybuster 1oz wads, it took a little bit more to get the same fps as the universal |

Mark, any thoughts on a starting point?
I got a pound. 65mm ched, ched primer, 20.0 wsf, sg16, 1oz.
Fits with minimum of wad compression.
Will have it tested if it chronos well, but this looks like the starting point from the old loads I found online.
Edit: shot 5 test loads, it was hotter than I expected at 1,220. ES was not great. May try again with a better crimp and 19 grains. |
