Riflemiester,

Good review of your new Bristol 16 gun, thank you sir very much for your thoughts on the gun. I have enough dog training gun already, was hoping this gun was a little better gun. Please give us you thoughts after doing some shooting with the gun, how does it pattern with #6's & #8's.

all the best,

I've got the stock set up to cut for my 14 1/4" lop with an SC-100 pad from the current 14 1/2" and a rather thin rubber pad. It appears to have about 1/4" cast off and I'll do the Churchill 16 yard POI check, but think I'll probably need to put it in my bending jig for a bit more cast off before I do a lot of shooting with it. I am also interested to see if those tight bores pattern any different from my more conventional bored guns. It appears the chokes may be an issue in that they appear from my measurements to have been manufactured for a larger .667" bore. Makes me wonder if they didn't purchase Berretta Mobile chokes for these guns without considering bore diameter. Hopefully I'll get some of this stuff done this weekend as next week is multiple doctor appointments including cataract surgery. Not sure what they will say about shooting shotguns for a while.

Riflemeister,

Please let know if you have any problems with the gun, I am still looking into purchasing the Bristol Silver 16 gauge gun and want to know your final opinion on the gun before I purchase one.

all the best,

I shot the gun with it's tightest chokes (functionally Mod/IMod) at the 16 yard Churchill gun fit protocol to determine the fitting required and came up with 5/16" additional cast off required. One issue it shares with my 16 ga Dickinson is a tight headspace that won't accept my 16 ga reloads that were fired in other guns. It does accept factory loads easily just like the Dickinson, and I think keeping the shells fired in those two guns separated from the other reloads may work. Funny that both guns are Turkish made, one by AKUS and the other by Khan. I wonder if Turkey has some different headspace specs than Spain and Italy.

Firing at the pattern sheet from 16 yards showed good barrel regulation and the patterns were dense and round as you would expect. I think my next evolution will be to take it out to the range with my wobble trap and see how my stock bending worked out. I do eventually intend to shoot all the chokes at patterning sheets to see how it patterns, but from what I've seen so far, I don't expect any issues.
