While I stockpile factory ammo, I reload too.

I have found reloading to be a pleasure in itself; particularly roll crimping and RMC brass hulls.

You can’t be a vintage gun lover and not learn to reload. While I hoard call kinds of 16 components, my recent move into 2 1/2 12ga is restricted to one hull type (federal paper), wad (rem fig Cool

powder (international, which in both my 1 oz and 1 1/8 oz loads burns very cleanly), all roll crimped.

16ga for everything. Hunting & competition in all clays.
In special events where 410 or 28 is required.

12 gauges for late season Geese

16 gauge for early Geese*, all season Ducks and Pheasants

20 gauge for Mountain Grouse, Sharptails and Huns

* I use the 16 gauge Goose hunting out of pit blinds in harvested corn fields

Gentlemen,

I have to admit I use my 16 gauge guns most while hunting, I do use my 20 and 28 gauge guns later in the season, when the leaves are mostly down off the trees.
I do shoot my 2 3/4" chambered 16 gauge guns on the Clays course also, to keep sharp for Grouse, Woodcock and Pheasant hunting.

As you can see my 12 gauge guns have little pressure on them these days, Pheasant hunting later in the season for wild birds the 12 gauge guns do get used a lot.

If you are a serious Grouse hunter the 16 gauge gun is usually your primary bird gun. If you own a old LeFever 12 gauge gun on a 16 gauge frame, it is also great for early Grouse season, when the forest looks like the Viet Nam jungle.
