Both powders are actually better suited to the 12 gauge but......
High Gun is probably going to be a bit more useful for the 16, especially with 7/8 oz. loads.
No data for either powder yet, except what is printed on the powder bottle.
Powder Valley has 8 lbers. of each for +/-$210.00.

Heard a nasty rumor that 700-X is going to be discontinued. I sent Hodgdon and email.

| Of course 700-X will be discontinued...then replaced with something that doesn't ignite well in cold weather. That seems to be what Hogdon does. |

It looks to me like Hodgdon High Gun is nothing more than Tite Group powder with a different label. |

Yeah, maybe, don't really care to be honest. It is a viable addition and the price, all things considered, is better than most powders. |

Yup, heard that one too, but supposedly that was only a rumor. 700-X is alive and well......and is really all I care about as I use it in both the 12 and the 16. |

I do not disagree.
My question is now, would you use either High Gun or Tite Group for a 7/8 oz 16 gauge load?
I am thinking 14 to 15 grains. One issue is that those powders are very dense and fillers are needed. |

I would try High Gun in a Remington hull and the CB0078-16 wad.
or
If DownRange ever gets off their butt, about 16 grains in one of the straight wall hulls and a DR16. |

Just spitballing: if these powders are "very dense and fillers are needed", would that make them suitable candidates for 2.5 inch loads, where there is less room in the case then a 2.75 inch load? |

| D-I-M ... I think you are all over it . I've been trimming basically all my cases all gauges an 1/8'' . Everything fits much better . Never been a huge fan of Ball Powders , just use begrudgingly . I think I have the last 4#er of 800X that came into NY - hope I don't end up with the last 700X jug !! Been loving that stuff since 1970 ! |

When my High Gun gets (Wed.) here I will send the load Mark suggested out for testing.
I have a lot of Remington hulls and the 7/8 oz wads. I'll use Cheddite primers too.
