I hunt with guys that have german short hairs and I have a springer so we don’t hunt them together and was wondering could a springer be trained to respect the point and flush on command?……..Thanks

It certainly can be done, however I agree with S.Davis. However we trained my brothers Boykins to flush birds working with my old German Shorthair and it was quite a hunting combo. However when alone the Boykins hunted in a different manner, putting the birds up. Lots of work training in this manner. His Boykins were incredible gun dogs. I also had a Springer who turned into a very good Pheasant dog, we never used him with the German Shorthair. After owning an incredible Small Munsterlander we ended our Spaniel ownership. The SM was a true flush on command dog, who found, pointed, flushed on command, and retrieved too hand. There were times Grouse hunting with the SM and the Ryman Setter as a mixed brace that I actually felt sorry for Gods King of wild birds, the dogs were that incredible hunting as a brace. The dogs worked in completely different manner setting up the Grouse for our gunning, it seemed they found everything in the forest.
