AC,
It is my understanding that Woodcock Hill did import guns that they advertised as Grouse & Woodcock guns, unfortunately I have very little knowledge about their business. Your gun is not the 1st that I have heard of with the Woodcock Hill emblem on them. My understand is the guns they imported were quality double guns and sportsman in the Benton, Pa area, liked them very much. I have never owned one of the guns however.

all the best,

AFIK, Woodcock Hill is still in operation in the eastern/NE part of the state. Always meant to do a road trip up there, just haven't to date.

The original guy, I forget his name, unfortunately, but met with him on a couple of occasions has passed away. He was an absolute character to say the least. From what I understand his son-in-law is now running the business. I’m not sure whether he was an importer or not, but many of the guns that he had, he would disassemble and refinish. Several of them had the sharp corners of the wood Sanded down and you could tell right away which gun he touched and which one he didn’t. He did, however, have some nice guns at decent prices.

Was it Glenn Baker? I attended a late Spring wedding with my wife in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania many years ago now (30?) and in the time leading up to the event I scheduled a professional "gunfitting" at Woodcock Hill. It was something of a drive to get there (we were staying in Allentown), but they had an old English boxlock "try-gun" there at the time (with the wildly-adjustable stock) and we blazed away with it until I'd been sorted out. I almost bought a gun there too (they had a very nice selection, as they owned the Thomas Bland Gunmakers name at that time and were importing lots of English guns).
