Where does everyone get their load recipes for this wad at? Searching around for 7/8 and or 3/4 oz loads in the 1250 -1300 fps range.
Thanks! |

Mostly from loads that we, the members of 16ga.com, had tested. They are probably on the spreadsheets.
I am not sure that any powder company has tested loads using the the DR16.
Here are mine. If the velocities are a bit stiff, you can back the loads down a grain or two.
Tested by Tom Armbrust:
Cheddite hull
Winchester 209
18.0 grains American Select
DR16
3/4 oz. lead shot
1,339 FPS 9480 PSI
-----
Cheddite hull
Winchester 209
23.0 grains Universal
DR16
7/8 oz. lead shot
1,424 FPS 11,180 PSI
-----
Federal hull
Federal 209A
22.0 grains Universal
DR16
7/8 oz. lead shot
1,384 FPS 10820 PSI
Tested by Precision Reloading:
Federal hull
Winchester 209
16.0 grains 700-X
DR16
7/8 oz. lead shot
1,260 FPS 8,163 PSI |

Yes but kinda like mine, mostly using powders that you can't get. |

Yes, my “go to” load for several years now in classic short chambered 16ga SxS’s has been 15.9gr of Int for 1150 using Ched 209’s.
Now we just need to get International back in stock. |

Here's the recipe I've posted here before. And with DR-16's on the way, I'll be able to it again. Tested by Tom Armbrust several years ago:
Cheddite hull (Herters). Cheddite primer, 17.3 grains 20/28, 7/8 oz shot.
Avg velocity1182 fps
Avg pressure: 7420 psi. |

Have we heard whether this will be the very last run of DR-16's? |

Larry, it does not get better than that! Even better, I have a few pounds of 20/28! |

Builder,
Charles Hammack, posted earlier this year that if you wanted DR16 wads, this would be the time to buy them and stock up.

Thanks for that, Larry. I may have to pick up some 20/28 while its available as I wonder if Hodgdon is going to come through with International in ‘24 as promised. |

FallCreekFan,
Hodgdon really didn't promise Clays, International or Universal for 2024. Their statement for those powders was vague and only hinted they might be made in 2024.
I would highly doubt that we will see any flake shotshell powders from Hodgdon this year unless the wars that Ukraine and Israel are fighting are quickly resolved.
It's either ball powders from Hodgdon, Alliant's sporadic release of shotshell powders, or Vihtavuori powders that we actually have access to. |
