Hello !

I am an avid 16 gauge shooter / reloader , go through minimum 100 rounds per week at Sporting Clays. Have been away from this site for a long time though.

Recently 4/8/24 I managed to get an email from Precision Reloading that Downrange DR16 wads were available. By the time I could order they were down to 1 (one) bag. Seriously !

I've shot mostly Claybusters & G/BP in the past depending on my hulls but had hoped to experiment with the Downrange offering. I've got a good supply of Winchester compression formed hulls and was looking forward to them.

Did anybody out there purchase multiple cases of the DR16's and maybe could spare a bag or two ?

Don't quite know how this works hopefully any replies can send me a personal message. Thanks , Dan.

I wouldn't bother putting much effort into the DR16 since the owner of the mold is talking like this may have been the final production run. There isn't much to be gained by experimenting with a component that will likely be unavailable from this point forward. If you are using WW CF hulls, the wads from Claybuster and G/BP will do everything you could need to do anyway.

I 100% agree with WyoChucker. Yes the DR16 is/was a very nice wad for 3/4 and 7/8 ounce loads, but since you are using Winchester CF hulls all the wads you need are available from Claybuster and Remington.

In my honest opinion and for various reasons, you aren't missing anything.

Thanks for the replies Guy's !

The CB 7/8 wad is currently my go-to load. I have a Parker 16 SXS that seems to love them in CF hulls with HS-6 powder.

Haven't seen any Remington wads either, heard they may be discontinued as well.

Will play with the DR16'S I have and wait to see if anyone offers any. Till then I will keep the faith feeding my 16's with what I can get.

Dan.

citori16guy,

Precision Reloading has SP16's in stock. The R16 was discontinued many years ago.

Mark , precision has had Alcan fiber 28ga wads to use as fillers on sale for quite a while now - perfect stuffer for smaller loads with bigger capacity wads . ( I know you don't like fillers - this is as good as it gets !)

Thanks, but I have gotten some .125 28 ga. nitro cards. That will do just fine for 7/8 oz. loads for quite awhile.
