Found an ancient Meffert 16ga with the barber pole type Damascus also heavily etched(found out it was an Austrian thing). Shot the old girl with some 5-6k 3/4 oz loads. Barrels are thick but looked like some of the plumbing around here on the inside. Will have Dean at skeets clean them up and gun restored. Really like old Imman’s work! This one will be lots of fun shooting doves over a water hole.

Thanks for the photos Jta5er, much appreciated. While guns like your Meffert will likely never grace my gun cabinet, to me the wonderful thing about them is they are a window back in time revealing to us the hand and eye of their long departed craftsmen.

And of course Dean offers such fine work and wise counsel on our guns, what a privilege to have him attend to our needs.

B.

This one can stay over the fireplace when it’s not out hunting, hell I just like looking at those barrels. Makes me smile!
