For my taste Turnbulls looks to "orangie" and fake...at least in person at the gun shows......his is nothing like the originals, especially on Winchesters.....cc is like a snowflake and each alloy will color different of course.......everyone has a different opinion as it should be......

I'm sorry, but the case coloring on that lever action is like a racoon tail tied to the side mirror of a Bentley. It's just wrong.  |

If case coloring makes you take your gun out, shoot it, and be proud of it then its far from wrong. I am sure many here with expensive guns wold call my Stoeger Uplander a door stop but I love it. I get the 16 gauge balance and I more important its the gun I most likely take out of the safe.

I love case colors. I don't care for Cyanide colors. "Torch" colors make me ill.
BUT, I like orange and blues, and if that isn't original Parker or Fox; then I would still have a gun done so those colors come out.
Maybe it is because I am one of those many "Green Gray Brown" color blind gents.
In any case, Batchelders stuff is great, Turnbulls stuff is great. Old Parkers and Foxes are great. Some "modest" British side by sides are great.
"Torchers" should be dragged out of their home in the middle of the night, and horsewhipped, hung, shot, and then following that, treated very badly.javascript:emoticon(' ')

I am convinced there are as many idiosyncracies in the attraction to case coloring as there are in the choosing of a friend. Dull, bright, brilliant, muted, to name just a few. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And all the secrecy that smiths employ. My oh my, it's as if they were inventing some kind of new secret weapon!

I like case colors because I don't prefer shiney guns. Case colors are unique and help a gun blend in. I have used camo tape on silver sides but I prefer not to.
