I've got an airweight Smith in my game bag anymore. Cheap (and light) insurance. |

Already been to grouse camp and back. I did pack something that I haven't included in my last 40 years of hunting in the Pryors. Myself and the boys all carried pistols (40 cal and above) because of reports of grizzly bears.

I carry a 44 Mag Ruger Redhawk in a Gunfighters Inc. Kenai chest holster in the early season when bears are being baited in the UP. Later I switch to a Sig M18 or Sig P365 for the (mostly) 4 legged varmints. Cheap insurance. |

Oldest son has the same Kenai rig for his Smith and Wesson the rest of us are packing on our belts.
I also carry buck and slugs for the O/U but dumping rounds and reloading may not be faster than pulling the pistol.
After reading what happened to those bowhunters in ID extra pistol rounds saved the day. |
