In the past, I've used Green Dot almost exclusively to build my 1 ounce target loads, but now I cannot find it a a price anywhere near "reasonable". Nor can I find Clays or Unique. I happen to have some Winchester Super Field I bought last year.
My load would consist of the black Remington Game Load hull, 1 oz. #9 shot, Cheddite 209 primer, Remington 1 ounce wad and ?? grains of WSF.
Is it feasible to use WSF (safe?) in this load combination? Thanks for any constructive input.... |

I was in Scheels the other day.
They had a good stock of Alliant powders including 4#jugs of Green Dot
Also 1# bottles of Unique.
You might check around for the powders you want. |

Found this in the spreadsheets, albeit a little snappy...
Rem Plastic 1 oz. WSF 21.5 Rem 209P Rem SP-16 1282 10500 Lymans 5th
I too have seen some "16ga" powders dribbling their way back on to retail shelves but powder prices across the board can cause some sticker shock. Primer availability getting better as well. |

| I switched to WSF after Universal became unavailable. I use the rem black game load hulls, 1 oz shot, win primers, and 18.6 gr of WSF for trap shooting. Thats a full gram more then of universal to get the same velocity. Its dirtier then universal. I use the win primers over the cheddite because they don`t seat well in the rem hulls, even though I have used them and don`t see any difference. Over all I like my results with WSF, shot over 5000 of them in my citori 16 ga |

You can load up to 1 1/8 oz. with WSF.
I think you can find the best loads for WSF in the Lyman 6th. Every hull listed has loads for WSF.
A nice load in the Lyman 6th is
Remington SP hull (not the current Remington hull which is actually a Federal)
Winchester 209
21.5 Grains WSF
CB0100-16 wad
1 oz. lead shot
1,258 FPS @ 10,000 PSI Chamber Pressure |
