Is there such a bird as a 16 gauge Midas choke?
Browning made 16 gauge 525’s, right?
Were they all just flush Invectors?
Worrse yet, were they Invector Plus?

I’ve got a really neat 1st year (1987) 16 gauge
With Midas chokes I’d be stylin’

Thanks

Yes, they do make Midas Grade 16 gauge choke tubes.
(You might check EBay or somewhere else for a cheaper price.)
Trulock and Briley also make extended Invector chokes.
In fact Briley actually makes the chokes for Browning, they just have their name put on them.

I have both. In a conversation with a Briley technician, he confirmed to me that they make the chokes for Browning. He also confirmed to me that for the Browning branded chokes, they adhere to Browning's specifications. For their branded chokes, they are a bit tighter in dimensional control.

I bought some of mine from these folks. They ordered the 16's in for me at no extra charge (meaning no special order charge, their standard pricing applies)

and some from Briley themselves in the different gauges we needed including 16.

The limited run 16 ga. 525 Sporting models did come with Midas extended chokes. These chokes are indeed Invectors not Invector +. I don't believe Browning ever made Invector + in anything but 12 and 20 ga. They went all the way to the DS choke system for the new A5 Sweet 16s.

The Midas chokes are essentially black oxide Briley Spectrums but all constrictions have the gold band. I had Briley make me a Cyl and LM and they looked exactly like the factory Midas chokes.

You can get the Midas 16 gauge Invector choke tubes directly from Browning, or possibly order them from a local Browning distributor:

I prefer the Briley chokes, and have many of them:

I’m impressed with Briley chokes, very even symmetric patterns. Just ordered a Briley skeet choke for a 725 28 ga, the Midas skeet choke is splotchy in the middle of the pattern and very raggedy around the edges.

My rub with Briley is this : I have a Red Label 28ga . They only made one choke threading for it . Briley used to have chokes on hand and I got several including extended . Now , they can't get me another choke unless I mail the choke type I want so that they can copy it and create another for me . Give me a break - they don't have ANY on hand to work off of !? They lost their draftings ?
