Gentlemen,
Pa's Pheasant season is going to a close on the 28th of February, its been a very good Pheasant season this year with the PGC stocking a fair amount of birds. I do wish they would stock more birds down here on the southern tier however. I saw a lot of birds killed on the ground this year the Pheasant did a lot of running, they only way to get them to set up, was with a very good dog who relocates, like our Grouse dogs do. All in all a very good Pheasant season here in Pa this year. This is even more important sense the PGC has eliminated our January grouse hunting season, more sportsman are now hunting Pheasant in Pa.
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave

| Glad for your good season. Sucked for me here in Adams county & vicinity. Buddy's dog & I go about 3x/week over 6 weeks & we had only one day where we were able to get shots, and that was when i got my 2. On another day he got 1. All the other days the dog didn't sniff a thing out & he's one great dog. We enjoy watching him more than pulling the trigger. I don't think they bothered to release around here. Even worse the DEC i guess de nuded an entire area leaving absolutely no cover at all. That gave them an excuse not to stock those particular fields. With what was left, i don't think they gave the area a fair share. Over the 15+/- days we hunted i'g guess we ran into no more than 6-8 other hunters. |

probie,
Unfortunately many places like that now exist on the southern tier of Pa,
seems the stocking trucks are being followed all the time now. We really need to see an end to this practice, and have the stocking done correctly!
all the best,

With Chester gone we missed pheasant season for the first time in decades but hope something works out next season.
Had a good friend who took a road trip in NW England last October with his wife, and passed through an area with ongoing hunting activities. Evidently pheasants were everywhere in the trees, roadways, perched on roadsigns and fenceposts. He isn’t a hunter notwithstanding my efforts to convert him, but he took great delight in tormenting me with photos, vivid descriptions, and consoling me for missing out on a fabulous hunt.

Hoashooter,
This season was very cold here in Pa, however it seems the PGC has not stocked as many Pheasant this season as in the past 3 seasons, I do believe this is why some of the sportsman have complained, saying this eason was not as good as the last few.
My big gripe is that many of the stocking trucks seem to have been followed by unsportsman like gunners especially this season, and many of the Pheasants gunned before the birds could even settle in to the SGL cover. I am tired of these type of people giving the excuses that the Pheasant would only be gotten by the many predators here in Pa. I still believe that at least a 2 day no hunting pause should be institute by the PGC, when stocking occurs, breaking up the following of the stocking trucks by unsporstsman like gunners. I have noticed this happening even in Potter county, where it seldom ever happened before. Every decent bird hunting sportsman should have the opportunity to hunt our PGC stocked Pheasants, not just the truck followers.
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave

Thank the Lord for our Pa wild birds (Grouse & Woodcock) that these unsportsmen like people find way to hard to gun!
