Just bought this from my buddy today. Barrel code is KA, which translates to May 1954.
28" barrel and 7.18 lbs.
Pics posted elsewhere on 16ga forums that host pics...
Codes are here, but dates not in order, really hard to decipher.

This gun sat in the closet of guy who bought it and he basically never used, 200 rounds total. When he died, wife gave to their son. Son never used. Son was friends with my buddy, got talking about 16ga and this ended up selling him this basically new gun for $250 in Jan26.
My buddy brought to range, didn't like much, offered to me. Trigger was heavy, didn't cycle 100%, I couldn't think what I'd do with a full choke lead-only 16ga, so I passed and bought a 16ga OU for skeet.
He had 2 strokes this month, became pretty motivated to find good homes for his guns, sold to me today for $400.
Turns out he never took it apart and cleaned it after sitting unshot for 71 years. I cleaned and lubed it, inspected, gun is pretty flawless. Trigger 4.9 lbs per gauge after cleaning, perfect function with my 7/8oz 1100fps reloads!
Still not sure what I'll do with it, probably get choke opened to Mod or IC so usable with steel or closer in dove. I won't use it for skeet, I hate chasing hulls. And I have 3 other 16ga I'd likely use first for dove (model 12, Auto 5 w chokes, CZ OU). But it's a great 16ga gun in perfect shape, so...
What would you guys do with it re choke? No pheasant near me. |

Nice one Dave!!!
I have had great luck with Briley Thin Wall chokes. Going on 28 years and I never regretted having my 1100 done. Not a single issue. |

Nice add to the safe, I enjoy those 48's, use it in good health.
Adding tubes is a good option. Do you hunt Quakers and/or Honkers? If so consider leaving it Full and load up some 1-1.125oz Bismuth 3's, 1's & B's and have at it. |
