International has been my go-to powder for low pressure light loads in the DR16. Universal was my 2nd choice. With both of those powders gone (maybe, for good) I’ve switched to LS and have a 3/4 oz load that is sub 5000 psi and 1150 fps that uses the SG16.

Anyone have 3/4 oz LS loads sub 6000 and 1150 +/- that uses the DR16?

I've looked through the spreadsheets and see next to -0- light low pressure slower loads using LS. I see that powder as a med/heavy propellant and would probably burn pretty dirty in such a light loading. But, if you have a 5k recipe using the short in comparison SG16 that you like, swapping the DR with it's long'ish crush section in, I'd be shocked if the pressure increases and most likely will decrease. If using Ched, Fio or Fed style hulls watch the OB cup fit with regards to powder migration.

Looking for low pressure for older or maybe Damascus guns?

Sending a few to Precision for testing would be cheap insurance.

Thanks, putz. Yes, exactly right. I’m shooting antique 16ga double guns so I’m keeping the pressure low for the barrels and load and speed low for the wood. I’ve never taken the time to calculate but the average age of my “stable” is probably 115-120 years old and a mix of pattern welded and fluid steel barrels.

My favorite load for years has been an International load using the DR16 for 6200/1150.

Longshot is not a favorite but it’s available and does the job. It also lives up to its nickname, “Loudshot” and definitely burns dirty at the lower pressures. The current 3/4 oz LS load I’m using comes from the Low Pressure Group’s spread sheet for 4733/1138. It’s notated as “very consistent”.

I’m rationing my existing stocks of International and Universal for certain loads and looking for a general go-to load for shooting clays. I have plenty of DR16’s and now it seems that CB is going to put them into their inventory so I’d like to get back to them if I can find a load that has the speeds and pressures I’m looking for.

I would definitely be interested in any loads you work up or come across.

I have used this load for a while. Can’t remember where I found it but think it was on this site.

International is finito? When it was cheap I laid in a couple pounds to try, I like it at 19gr for 7/8oz loads. Too bad, but that LS load just list at 4,750 psi is amazing.
