Just went and shot a round of trap with my new Citori.
Not too bad, got it figured out towards the end.

Question, what chokes should I use for sporting clays?

I use different chokes when shooting SC depending on the station and target presentation.
Overall though I've found that LM is a good start.

If I had to shoot it with 1 choke it would be light mod. too. Mainly depends on the presentation. what one guy swears by another would never use Exclamation

I start with chokes that have .008" constriction on a gun that throws a tight pattern. I guess that may be the equivilant of a light mod. I also use flush mounted chokes, vs the extended one with the knurling. I don't want them to be easy to change as this just distracts me from shooting. Hell, I have watched some guys change chokes at every station and get so obsessed with it that they forget about shooting.

My best rounds of SC has been with LM and LF. Choke with SC largely depends upon the course layout, individual bbl patterns, ammo used and to a certain degree, even guage used and weather(wind) If you are a great shot with one particular gun you are all warm and fuzzy with, you might get away with (or even excell with) tighter chokes that really vaporize targets.

I like IC or skeet 1/Mod, or LM/LF in a fixed choke gun because I can manipulate, or equal choke performances with reloading techniques.
In a variable choked gun I have almost all available, but seem to settle on Skeet 1/LF or IM as that combo works well for me with fairly soft factory shells, as well as handloads for SC/5-Stand and Trap singles too.

I/C is probably the best all around choke for SC with skeet a close second. When shooting high quality ammo you can break targets at ranges many would consider beyond the capability of IC or skeet choke. The targets won't be turned into dust but they will break and that is all that matters.
