I have only had my 1910 Browning auto 5 16 gauge less than 24 hours and now a kill under her belt. The ole boss gobbler was no match for my tight Belgium barreled gun.

Congratulations! That's a nice big gobbler you took with your A5. What load were using? My L.C. Smith 16ga will be accompanying me next Saturday when our season here in PA opens. Maybe you can pass along some of your luck! All the best.

Yes Good Luck on your hunt. I shot a RST 2 1/2 inch ounce of #6. I had bought #8's but reloaded three of them last night with 6's. |

| That's great to hear that you didn't have to use some magnum load. I wish I could use my Lefever on turkeys, but it's choked ic/m. |

UncleDan---Them modified chokes take them turkeys here in NY  Do a little pattern work with that Lefever then point it at one of them gobblers  |

30 yards. The ole tom was in a woodlot that was 1/4 mile long and 300 yards wide. He went from end to end this morning. When he was on the south end I set up on the north end. The woods were so open I could see him 200 yards out. Two steps then stop and look then two more steps. Glad I took the time to cut some brush to stick in front of me. When he got to 60 yards I was shaking hard. when he got to 30 yards I could stand it no more. Boom. I have shot 100 turkeys in 27 years and they still make me feel like my heart is going to jump out of my chest. Same feeling as shooting a 16 gauge.  |

They do? You know, you're right. I should stop thinking I have to have the latest x-full techno gizmo and just use what I love to shoot. I hate to admit this, but I even bought a single shot 12b H&R turkey gun with x-full choke this year. It was only a hundred bucks, but I'm already thinking about trading it in on an older solid-rib A-5 16 with a poly choke at a local shop. From quail to turkeys to ducks with modern no tox loads, my Lefever and an A-5 would have it covered. Two great examples of American history too.
In the meantime, I should try patterning some buffered reloads with my Lefever. I haven't shot a turkey past 25 yards, and I think a modified would do fine to that range. Thanks for the encouragement! |

| Nice bird. My sisters boy carried my 16 gauge 1100 on saturday. No kills but had 8 gobblers together come in. They are still bunched up in northern pa. I had them set up 40 yards in front and of course the birds showed up 20 yards to my left. Well he had fun and got to expirence the turkey shakes. |
