Ouch! Glad I got hold of mine before ol' Ed did! 3" drop at heel? That's a bunch. Doesn't look like that much, and I've never seen a late Fox with 3" of DAH! |

That guy must be a jerk. I have been watching that shotgun as its been up for quite a while the jerk hasn't caught him a fish yet. I make an attempt to warn people about this nitwit as much as possible. Is he the "master gunsmith" or is that his mate He will not answer any emails that contain any questions of workmanship. Sure would like to meet him in person... |

I agree with Charles...The barrels look like a quality rust blue...The wood looks presentable...Ed should just leave the action with its original case colors, or lack of case colors, rather than the torch or whatever process he is useing.... |

IMO if I see a gun that was "case colored" with a torch I make the assumption that all the work done on thjat gun was probably done with the same lack of effort and disregard for what I believe to be the proper techniques.
So look at the torch marks and then look at action which looks tight wnd with the top lever WAY right of center and ask yourself......was the gun action tightened up with many hours of high caliber craftsmanship by dovetalling the hook and refitting it? Or a maybe a new hinge pin or building up the metal surface and refitting the parts so it will stay on face for the next 75 years? Or maybe a hammer and a center punch was used to push some metal around and make the gun feel tight....for the next 200 rounds after which it will quickly creep back where it was.
When I see something like that my wallet stays in my pocket. |
