Any easy way to reduce the rattle when the forend is in the forward position on the BPS pumps? |

Trade it in on a good SxS. |

Atleast when the forend on a SxS rattles it can be fixed. |

Sheesh! You guys are no help. Actually, I have an old Tisdall of Birmingham Damascus hammer gun that does not rattle. But I can't afford a new one as I recently spent all my spare change on a little CZ .410 double ... |

All pumps have some rattle. The slides need to have some "play" to work freely. Too tight of tolerences would mean less smoothness in the working of the action.
I own 6 pumps; 4 BPS and 2 870s. All have rattle.
I wouldn't worry about it and just shoot it as much as you want.

You are either a pump guy, or, you are not. They all rattle (to an extent) because, well, they move. By design.
Best,

The odor of Hoppe's NO.9, loose shot from a reload in your coat pocket, and the cacophony of six duck hunters loading up their pump guns and the ensuing clack and rattle of the fore ends. Sweet music never cease!
Meaning no disrespect, my brother, but you don't seem to have handled many "shell shuckers". They all have play in the fore end and will rattle if bumped, but I suspect that it is not so much a rattle as a clack. It's a metal on metal thing, muted by the wood. If the fore end is loose, you would be able to squeeze the action bar with one hand and pull the fore end back. If the bar doesn't move and the wood does, you indeed do have a problem. Brownell's sells a wrench for disassembly of the fore end.The nut on the back MIGHT be loose. After reading your post, I doubt this is the case. I own a BPS 20 bore Upland Special, and mine wobbles too. |

Some folks say in my case, its the nut on the trigger that's loose. . However, all pumps do rattle a bit. Heck, most repeaters do.
So for those what got 'em, how are those 16 gauge BPS models doing? |

Thanks for the replies, guys. I started out with an old Model 12 16 gauge pump with the rattail forend and killed a lot of ducks, quail and pheasants with that old gun. It did rattle of course, just not like this new BPS. Maybe once it gets worn in and some character in the metal, the rattles will sound less tinny .... |
