I don't know about you folks in the east and the midwest, but finding a 16 on the used gun rack at a shop here in the west almost never happens. Seems 16's must not have been as popular here as they were out east, in the old days. I'm still kicking myself for not buying the NID 16 I found at a gun shop down in San Diego a few months ago -- about eighty percent condition, and only asking $350.

Yeah...same down south. I've visited shops and sales all over the old "quail belt" and 16s are just tough to find!

I blame it on the Devil. Down here, we blame most things on the Devil. And occasionally on Rev. Al Sharpton...

Right on, brother Rick!! I've been cruising the pawnshops in Ft Worth and the Metroplex, and found some great bargains on 16bores- 11-48 Remmy-$235 and a Remmy mod.11 for about the same price! Bad news is I'm broke! Crying or Very sad

I reckon one reason, other than the devil, that we don't see many 16's down South is that most of them are in the field. We Southrons are too smart to not use them Smile

I see used A5s and Model12s every now and then at a little shop in Northwest Indiana. Neither of those models grabs at my heart, and I'm not competent to carefully evaluate a specific gun in those particular models. But if anyone would like a heads-up when I see one, I'd be glad to send them a PM.

I was in Buffalo,NY for a funeral this week and popped in some local shops. Found one excellent shop that had an absolutely great selection of older guns. He had a few 16ga M12s, some other stuff, so they are out there. I ended up buying a nice Remington 31L 20ga that he had on the rack. I have family up that way and will make it a point to hit that shop every visit.
